Burgundy Hearts(R) Redbud PP19654

Ornamental trees are always a sure sign of spring! We love them for their delicate and colorful blooms, especially native Eastern Redbuds!

One of our newest Redbuds is Burgundy Hearts® Redbud PP19654, an exciting new Redbud selection from Garden Debut®. It is a vast improvement over Forest Pansy Redbud. New growth emerges as a shimmering red-purple, and the heart-shaped leaves remain burgundy throughout the season. Showy pink-lavender flowers appear before the leaves in spring. Mature size is 20 to 25 feet tall and 25 to 35 feet wide.

Similarly, Merlot Redbud PP22297 from Plant Haven features large rounded glossy dark purple leaves; its tight dense habit makes it perfect for smaller yards. Strong, bright pink sweet pea-like blooms are borne on the bare stems in early spring. It is available this spring from our Oklahoma and North Carolina locations.

The shining star of our Redbud collection is The Rising Sun™ Redbud PP21451 from Garden Debut®. This PHS Gold Medal Winner is a small tree with brilliant, golden tangerine colored new growth and lime green, heart-shaped foliage all summer with no burning, even in full sun. Dark lavender blooms appear before the foliage in early spring. This vigorous grower reaches 8 to 12 feet tall with an equal spread. It’s available this spring from our Oklahoma location as well.

Also unique to our Redbud collection is the Oklahoma Whitebud, a beautiful small tree with pure milky white flowers in spring, followed by glossy, bluish green, and heart-shaped leaves. Fall foliage has an unusual yellow cast. Height is 15 feet with an equal spread.
