Harold & Rebecca Nickel establish Greenleaf Nursery in Muskogee as a "cash and carry" retail and landscape nursery.
1954
Greenleaf begins experiments in growing plant materials in containers
1957
The first 35 acres are purchased at the current location on Lake Tenkiller, near Park Hill, Oklahoma
1960
First Saleable crop is ready for market (20,000 plants)
1965
John Nickel begins construction on the building to become the corporate office.
(Originally designed to be his family's home.)
1969
Conversion of John Nickel's home to the corporate office is completed.
1969–1977
Gil Nickel serves as President of the Company.
1971
Acres are purchased near El Campo, TX for a second growing location.
1977–1988
Austin Kenyon serves as President. Additional land is purchased surrounding the Oklahoma and Texas nurseries.
1984
Greenleaf purchased and began developing our Hidden Lake Nursery, a field nursery near Ft. Gibson, OK, (currently 476 acres.) This production site began producing whips and liners for use in the OK and TX container nurseries.
1986
Office space was expanded an additional 4,200 square feet and the landscape was redesigned.
1988–2001
Jim Zangger serves as President.
1990
A 14,000 square foot grading building is constructed at the Hidden Lake Nursery and a 239,000 cubic feet cold storage facility is constructed at the Park Hill nursery creating a humidified, temperature-controlled environment.
1995
A new shipping building is constructed housing the Shipping, Inventory, and Tagging Departments along with Supervisor's offices and a Trucker's lounge.
1997
295 acres of land is purchased near Tarboro, North Carolina with a complete product line to supply our East Coast customers.
1999
An eight-year water recycling system project at the Park Hill nursery is completed, encompassing eight catch and retention basins, several miles of pipe and 19 pumps. This project wins regional and state environmental awards from the EPA, Oklahoma State Department of Environmental Quality and Sierra Club.
1999
A new building at the Park Hill location is constructed housing Human Resources, Purchasing and MIS departments, including a 4,000 square foot warehouse, 800 square foot conference room and a secure room that houses the computer servers and data processors.

New Tagging building in Oklahoma with 8,100 square feet.
